D'Eriq King Carries Miami To Victory Against NC State
D'Eriq King reminded everyone on Friday night that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Granted, the Miami signal-caller did face off against a struggling NC State defense, but that can only matter so much. He carried the Hurricanes to victory.
Despite being down 10 points early in the fourth quarter, the Houston grad transfer spearheaded a 44-41 win to move Miami to 6-1. The Wolfpack, on the other hand, fall to 4-3 overall.
King was magnificent.
He was 31-of-41 (75.6%) for 430 yards and five touchdowns with no turnovers. The 5-foot-11, 202-pound senior also added 105 yards on only 15 carries on the ground. Most of the night, NC State just did not have an answer for him.
Check out a couple of these throws:
Miami's offense had 620 total yards on the night. King accounted for a whopping 531 of those yards, which makes up 85.6 percent. A performance that has to make Hurricane fans happy when comparing it to what has been on campus the previous few seasons.
Friday night was also the second consecutive game where King finished with a 70-plus percent completion rate, averaged over 10 yards per attempt and had zero interceptions.
The Virginia Tech Hokies (4-2) are next on the docket for Miami. It's a game that could be revealing for the Hurricanes and the rest of the ACC.
