Country star Luke Bryan joined Clay Travis to talk Georgia football, Atlanta Braves baseball, The Brett Boyer Foundation and much more on a busy college football Saturday.
Playing the heartstrings of the Bulldogs fan base, Bryan recounted growing up a Georgia fan and how that all got started thanks to a college football legend.
"When you grow up as a four, five-year-old kid, and your first and only memory of football is Herschel Walker in a national championship, it kinda brainwashes you as a child forever," said Bryan.
Previewing the Georgia-Florida matchup in the week ahead, Clay asked Luke on the likelihood that Dan Mullen and the Gators pull off an upset against Georgia's stout defense.
"It's always a possibility," admitted Luke. "For years, it's always been one of those coin-flip, momentum, turnover games. Couple of fumbles heading in the wrong spot. ... Florida has not had the year that they probably envisioned, so the pressure's definitely on Dan Mullen."
On the brink of the Atlanta Braves' Game 6 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Bryan shared his hopes for the Braves to reach the World Series against the Astros.
"We are praying. Last year they came back and got us," said the country star, despite feeling optimistic. "It's always fun going to another ballpark, because those Dodger fans ... when the ball comes off the bat and it looks like it's over ... they are hard to beat because of that fan base."
Luke also shared the great work being done at The Brett Boyer Foundation, whose fundraising has aided children dealing with rare heart problems.
"We fund CHD (congenital heart defect) research. One-in-a-hundred children are born with a heart defect, and it creates an avalanche of problems. This whole event is about funding that research. ... Every year it's my favorite day of the year."
