Complete Breakdown Of Longhorn Football Staff Salaries Under New Deals
Steve Sarkisian could earn $34.2 million in base pay over the length of his six-year contract as Texas Longhorns head football coach, if the University of Texas System Board of Regents approves the agreement on Thursday.
The board of regents is expected to approve the salaries of Sarkisian and his coaching staff, KXAN reports.
According to a Wednesday agenda, Sarkisian’s contract runs through Dec. 31, 2026, and includes the following guaranteed compensation through the next six years:
U. T. Austin agreed to pay Sarkisian’s buyout at the University of Alabama, the agenda states.
Sarkisian’s deal includes a “special one-time payment” of $1.2 million as a stay bonus on Dec. 31, 2024 — something similar to what Tom Herman had.
As part of the non-guaranteed performance bonuses, he can earn a maximum of $675,000. This includes $100,000 for winning National Coach of the Year honors and $50,000 for being named conference Coach of the Year.
The incentives include two cars, club membership, and private aircraft flight time for personal use each year with hours that don't carry over, the agenda states.
Sarkisian’s proposed deal includes a housing allowance of $250,000, a suite for all home football games, and six tickets to all other home sports.
Alabama gave Sarkisian a new deal last year, bumping his salary up from $1.65 million to $2.5 million after Colorado targeted him in its coaching search, according to Sports Illustrated.
Texas spared no cost to land Sarkisian and his three coordinators, who will make more than $1 million each season.
Offensive coordinator and offensive line Coach Kyle Flood will make $1.1 million in his first year with the Longhorns.
Flood's contract runs through 2024.
Special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Jeff Banks is set to make $1 million in his first year.
Banks' contract runs through 2024.
Banks was paid $750,000 annually at Alabama, and SI reports that the deal likely makes him the nation's first seven-figure special teams coach.
Defensive line coach Bo Davis is set to make $875,000 in his first season with the Longhorns.
Davis' contract runs through 2024.
