Chris Braswell Continues To Make An Impression For Alabama

Alabama has one of the nation's top pass rushing duos returning at outside linebacker next season. Between Will Anderson Jr. and Christopher Allen, the Crimson Tide is in great hands. But they've also built impressive depth at the position as well.

That depth was on full display Saturday during the annual A-Day Game.

Anderson was held out of the game, as was rotational outside linebacker Drew Sanders. Those losses didn't cause many problems though. Instead, another former five-star edge player, Chris Braswell, picked up the slack.

He racked up five tackles and three sacks, one of which was a strip sack of Bryce Young that resulted in a defensive touchdown. Though he didn't play at all last year, Braswell showed plenty of explosiveness and bend off the snap. That is why he was a top-20 player coming out of high school.

One of the guys over at Roll Bama Roll with SB Nation recently broke down some of the film on Braswell, and it's worth checking out.

Even with the impressive performance, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound pass rusher still probably won't uproot Anderson or Allen from their starting job. His development does, however, demonstrate the depth at that position.

Sanders was the first edge player off the bench last year. He didn't see a ton of snaps, so that's a role that Braswell could push for if he continues to perform. Either way, having that level of depth behind two top-tier starters is impressive.

There's also another five-star who will be in the mix starting in the summer. True freshman Dallas Turner, a top-10 player in the 2021 class, has the size, athleticism and tools to be an immediate contributor.

It just might not be right away with the level of talent and depth in front of him.
