Central Michigan QB Keller Heading Home From Hospital A Month After Being Shot At Party
It's not been an easy road for Central Michigan quarterback John Keller, but in an amazing turn of events, just a month after being shot in the chest, he's heading home.
The 20-year-old wasn't sure that he'd ever see his home again some four weeks ago when he was first shot, an incident that took place at a party in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
The QB was "fighting for his life" after being struck by gunfire, and spent a lot of the last month in the ICU as part of his recovery process.
He was very vocal on social media Friday regarding coming home after the gunfire incident.
"Very thankful to be heading home today," Keller wrote Friday on Twitter.
"First, I have to thank god and I want to thank all of you for the prayers and support as they have been answered on this tough road. Thank you Hurley for saving my life."
"John is headed home today!! God is Great!" Keller's day said via twitter.
The incident regarding Keller took place when he and a second CMU student, were both shot at an apartment complex on April 24th after police say a fight broke out at the apartment.
Police say that Kenneth Thomas was involved in the incident, and he walked away from the party to get a gun from his vehicle and then came back and shot Keller and the other student.
Officials say Thomas has since been arrested and hit with 10 charges and could be sitting in jail for a LONG time to come.
