Baylor, Houston Cancel Contest Due to Contact Tracing, Not Positive Results

Baylor and Houston have canceled their football game less than 24 hours before the scheduled kickoff, according to SicEm365 writer Colt Barber.

According to his report there was a group of players at a single position that were all being held out over Covid concerns -- though many players had not tested positive for coronavirus.

According to a source of Barber: 'Due to local goverment guidelines, contact tracing, not positive results of conducted COVID-19 tests on football players and staff members, led to the decision to postpone the game. Because of the guidelines in place, multiple Baylor players were set to miss the game as a direct result of contact tracing and not due to positive COVID-19 tests, the source said.'

This is an unfortunate turn of events as the two programs had just recently agreed to play the game. The discussion was sparked because the two Texas teams lost games against Louisiana Tech and Memphis -- again to Covid concerns -- and the mutual open date was available to quickly schedule a game.

It will make the fifth game this weekend that is being postponed or canceled joining: Charlotte at No. 12 North Carolina — cancelled; Virginia at No. 20 Virginia Tech — postponed; No. 21 BYU at No. 22 Army — postponed, and Florida Atlantic at Georgia Southern — postponed.
