Arkansas Snaps 5-Game Skid Against Missouri with 34-17 Win
Arkansas ended Missouri's five-game winning streak in the Battle Line rivalry as quarterback KJ Jefferson threw for 262 yards in a 34-17 victory at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville Friday night in the regular-season finale.
The Razorbacks (8-4, 4-4 SEC) won three rivalry trophies in one season for the first time in program history as they previously beat two other border schools, Texas A&M and LSU, for the Southwest Classic trophy and LSU for the Boot trophy.
Jefferson hit wide receiver Treylon Burks on a 52-yard touchdown pass for a 24-6 lead with 9:48 to go in the third quarter to put the game away. Arkansas led the Tigers (6-6, 3-5 SEC) at the half. Jefferson completed 15 of 19 passes with a touchdown and rushed six times for 58 yards. Burks caught seven passes for 129 yards.
Under second-year coach Sam Pittman, Arkansas completed a turnaround from 3-7 last year and won eight games in a regular season for the first time since going 10-2 under in 2011. The Hogs also won their most SEC games in a season since a 5-3 mark in 2015.
After Cam Little's second field goal, Arkansas took a 34-9 lead with 9:52 to go on a 7-yard touchdown run by Raheim Sanders, whose 1-yard touchdown put the Hogs up 10-0 in the second quarter.
Missouri tailback Tyler Badie gained 219 yards on 41 carries and broke the record for most rushing yards in a season with 1,666, passing Devin West's 1,578 in 1998 in the fourth quarter.
