Arik Gilbert Making Another Change After Brief Stint At Florida

Just when we thought Arik Gilbert was out of the transfer portal, he pulls us back in.

The former five-star tight end has re-entered the portal after a very brief stint with the Florida Gators. He took to social media on Sunday to announce the surprising news.

"I have decided to decommit from the university of Florida and re-enter the portal," Gilbert tweeted out. "I will not be announcing my final decision until i am enrolled into school and on campus."

This is a huge blow to Dan Mullen and the Gators.

After losing star tight end Kyle Pitts early to the NFL draft, Gilbert was expected to alleviate that loss. His arrival was also going to help the loss of other top pass-catching options such as Kadarius Toney and Trevon Grimes.

Now, the former No. 5 overall prospect from the 2020 class will be contributing elsewhere.

Where? Who knows, this is the strangest recruiting development since Bru McCoy. It's possible he ends up with Kirby Smart in Athens, or maybe he'll head to Tuscaloosa with Nick Saban. At this point, he could even end up outside the SEC.
