AP Top 25: No. 2 Cincy, Iowa Drops as Purdue Enters

After a 56-21 win at home on Saturday, the Cincinnati Bearcats moved up to No. 2 behind the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs in Week 8's AP Top 25 Poll released Sunday.

The Associated Press reports Cincinnati's No. 2 ranking is the first time a team from outside the Power Five has been ranked that high since 2010, and the Bearcats got a little help inching up this week's poll with Iowa’s Saturday loss to Purdue.

The previously ranked No. 2 Hawkeyes dropped nine spots to No. 11 and the Boilermakers moved into the rankings at No. 25, snapping the longest current AP poll drought for a Power Five school, the AP reports.

Oklahoma landed the No. 3 spot, followed by No. 4 Alabama and No. 5 Ohio State.

No. 7 Penn State kept its ranking in Week 8, while previously ranked No. 12 Oklahoma State moved up to No. 8 after beating Texas.

No. 9 Michigan State moved up a spot after defeating Indiana 20-15, and the top 10 is finished off with Oregon. The previously ranked No. 9 Ducks beat Cal 24-17 on Friday.

Previously ranked No. 20 Florida fell out of the rankings for the first time this season after the Gators were beaten by LSU on Saturday, the AP reports. Along with Texas, which is back to being unranked after blowing a double-digit, second-half lead for the second consecutive week.
