Video: Tennessee, Arkansas Baseball Coaches Get Into Heated Postgame Exchange
Tennessee and Arkansas both currently have top-5 teams in college baseball. The Razorbacks (39-10, 19-8 SEC) are the nation's top-ranked squad while the Vols (39-13, 18-9) sit just below them at No. 5 overall.
When you're competing at such a high level, there's a lot on the line. Emotions ran high as the two teams faced off against one another over the weekend.
On Sunday, Arkansas wrapped up the three-game series with a 3-2 win over Tennessee. Following the final game, the coaches for both squads, Tony Vitello with the Vols and Dave Van Horn with the Razorbacks, exchanged some unpleasantries.
Check out this tweet from Dan Harralson with Vols Wire.
Ben McKee with VolsQuest.com got another postgame exchange -- a much calmer one -- after Vitello got done speaking to his team.
I don't know about you, but I am dying to know what led to all this going down postgame. We will probably never know the full story, but Vitello did give us an interesting tidbit when addressing the media later on.
"You know, he had some things to say. You know, thought we did a good job and it was an excellent series and all that," Vitello said. "Probably poor timing on my choice, but brought up some of-the-field stuff that's really not a big issue. That's probably more than I should say about it."
What's interesting is that the two coaches have a history.
Vitello was an assistant under Van Horn at Arkansas from 2014-17. Since then, he's been the head baseball coach at Tennessee. Was it something from back then? Or maybe it has something to do with recruiting? Hell, maybe Van Horn got the dog in the divorce. I don't know, but I'm about to Nancy Drew this situation. I need answers.
