NCAA Files Trademark For 'Mask Madness' To Go With 'Battle in the Bubble'

Back on August 31, Jay Bilas jokingly asked what the NCAA would try to trademark next as the organization went after “Battle in the Bubble" trademarks. Bilas wondered if "Mask Madness" would be targeted by the NCAA. Well, we now have an answer. Yes, the NCAA went after "Mask Madness," according to United States Patent and Trademark Office records.

The NCAA filed its goods and services trademark request December 23 for the use of "Mask Madness" on face coverings used "for protection against viral infection" and knit face masks such as headwear. The trademark request also notes the NCAA would like "Mask Madness" to promote "public awareness of benefits associated with wearing masks; advertising, promotion and marketing services in the nature of campaigns promoting wearing masks as a protection against viral infections."

The NCAA's March Madness plan is to hold the entire tournament in Indianapolis with a national championship game being played on April 5.
