Gonzaga Hero Jalen Suggs Had Offers From Ohio State, Georgia, Others To Play Football

Jalen Suggs' game-winning heroics for Gonzaga on Saturday have opened up a whole new set of doors, as is usually the case for those who become stars in a big moment.

Suggs has been on the radar of programs for quite some time though, and not just for basketball.

Suggs, who is 6-foot-5, was also recruited as a 3-star dual-threat quarterback out of Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis in 2020, and he was getting plenty of looks from schools.

One of those schools was Georgia, which offered Suggs a chance to play for the highly touted program.

It sounded like Suggs was well on his way to becoming a Bulldog, as his tweet on Christmas Eve in 2018 suggested that he was ready to accept the offer and go play ball in Georgia.

Georgia wasn't the only big name program that offered Suggs an opportunity to play football. Michigan State, Ohio State and Iowa all made offers for him to come play for them as well.

Suggs' star can rise even higher, should he play well and help Gonzaga win a National Title against Baylor on Monday evening.

This past season, the freshman put up 14.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest. He hit for 16 in the win over UCLA, including the exciting three-pointer at the buzzer to seal the win.

If his last name sounds familiar to football fans, that is because Jalen's father is second cousins with former Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs! That is quite the bloodline.
