Family Affair: Juwan Howard's Four-Star Son Commits To Wolverines

The University of Michigan basketball team is adding another Howard to the program. Four-star recruit, Jett Howard, whose father Juwan starred at Michigan and now coaches the reigning Big Ten champs, has committed to play for the Wolverines.

Howard chose Michigan over a number of other big-name programs such as Georgetown, LSU, Tennessee and North Carolina State.

The 6'7, 220 pound Howard, who's entering his final season at Florida's IMG Academy, won't just be joining his dad in Ann Arbor. His brother Jace is also part of the Wolverine basketball team.

"It was a tough decision because I was seriously looking at Tennessee," said Howard per 247Sports. "But it was just the family atmosphere obviously because of my dad. I also feel I will have a good opportunity to play right away. I honestly like how everybody is treated the same around the campus. I paid attention to the little things when it came to this recruiting process and that stood out along with the culture and environment of the program."

Despite his ties to the program, Howard still had to be sold by his dad on the idea of playing for the Maize and Blue.

"He told me how much he believes in me as a player. That he will put me in the best position to succeed. What my dad said that really got my attention was, 'We need you from day one. I know your game better than anyone else. If you were not my son, I would still recruit you.' And, of course, I trusted him the most," Howard told ESPN. "He has developed me my whole life. Opportunities like this do not come around often."

The younger Howard will be part of the 2022 recruiting class, which 247Sports currently ranks 2nd in the Big Ten behind only Ohio State.
