Coach K Apologizes After Lecturing Student Reporter

Mike Krzyzewski has apologized to a student reporter after the legendary Duke coach was a bit, well, condescending.

The Blue Devils are having a rough season, and when student reporter Jake Piazza asked how to move forward after a third straight loss, Krzyzewski tried to give a lesson in the art of asking questions.

Some reward for driving nine hours to Louisville to offer coverage of the school's basketball team, huh?

But it's all water under the bridge now, it seems. Krzyzewski called Piazza to offer an apology, as Piazza noted in a fine piece in the Duke Chronicle.

“Our call was short, but the sincerity in his apology was genuine,” Piazza wrote. “In the end, I appreciated the call.”

And hey, there are worse things than 15 minutes of Twitter fame, which is what Piazza admittedly received.

"What I will remember most from this weekend, however, is the support from all the journalists (both sports and non-sports) who reached out or replied on Twitter, and I can’t thank everyone enough for that," he wrote. "As a young journalist figuring the industry out, it was a tremendous confidence-booster to see so many other people in the field encouraging me to keep asking questions, and I fully plan on doing so."
