Tyler Herro Must Be Drunk, Says He Is In Same Class As Luka Dončić

Miami Heat guard Tyler needs to drop the Hennessy bottle, and more points, if he wants to compare himself to Dallas Mavericks star Luka Dončić. Herro has long had the looks and confidence of a high schooler, but this time he stepped out of bounds.

Joining the Bally Sports Miami Mic’d Up podcast ahead of the Heat's Oct. 21 season debut against the championship-winning Milwaukee Bucks, Herro spoke about his trajectory for the upcoming season, and he put himself in the echelon of the Association's best.

“I feel like I’m in the same conversation as those guys, the young guys coming up in the league who can be All-Stars, Superstars one day — Luka, Trae Ja, you know, those guys, I feel like my name should be in that category too,” Herro said.

In two seasons with the Heat, Herro has averaged 14.3 points, 2.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Luka, on the other hand, has averaged 25.7 points, 7.7 assists, 1.0 steal and 8.4 rebounds per game through three seasons with the Mavs. He also finished sixth in MVP award balloting for the 2020-21 season and is frequently making the highlight reels for his late-game daggers and game-winning shots.

The Mavericks guard was also the second-fastest player to reach 35 career triple-doubles (behind Spurs legend Oscar Robertson), which is highly impressive on its own and only made richer by Herro's zero total career triple-doubles.

Herro may need liters of Michael's Secret Stuff from Space Jam before reaching the heights of the Dončić's play.
