Still Got It: Isaiah Thomas Shows Out In Attempt To Return To NBA

Isaiah Thomas' trek back to the NBA has taken much longer than expected, but last night's 42-point outburst is a major step in the right direction. The former Celtics All-Star still can't defend with his 5-foot-8 off major hip surgery though -- Luckily for I.T., there's a premium on guards that can fill up the bucket in today's game.

We're rooting for the guy.

For those that watched his early-career success in bean town, this is exactly how he played, isn't it? Let the big guys grab the boards while he leaks out to light a match in transition that puts pressure on the defense.

You wouldn't think a little guy could make noise with touch at the front of the rim, yet he goes up strong the way many in this era refuse. A sweet passing game that'll likely never allude the 32-year-old point guard, while always being a fan favorite. There's just something about rooting for players that can't overpower the game with physicality. And now that the league has strayed away from the big man, IT's lack of size that goes hard at the rim could be a fit.

Thomas is currently playing with the Grand Rapids Gold of the NBA's G-League affiliated with the Denver Nuggets. If he keeps playing like this Isaiah Thomas might land himself a gig on one of these covid-ridden teams that needs a filler to run point.
