NBA Celebrates Chinese New Year Same Day A Team Tried To Ban National Anthem
The NBA celebrated the Chinese New Year on Wednesday night. Normally, that information wouldn't be newsworthy, but considering what happened earlier in the day, it's worth mentioning.
Why, you might ask? Well, that celebration came just hours after it was revealed that the Dallas Mavericks were no longer including the national anthem in their pregame routine. To make matters worse, that news was revealed by team employees, not Cuban.
After public backlash, the decision to remove the anthem was later reversed by the NBA on Wednesday afternoon.
Talk about strange timing, right?
Former off-field assistant for Ole Miss Brennon Chapman first brought the oddly-timed events to the attention of OutKick founder Clay Travis. He tweeted, "The jokes write themselves," which I think sums the situation up nicely.
Clay recently shared his thoughts on the national anthem during OutKick The Show on Wednesday, which you can watch below.
