Minnesota Timberwolves Part Ways With Gerrson Rosas
The Minnesota Timberwolves are parting ways with president of basketball operations Gerrson Rosas, according to Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania. Not a huge surprise to see someone leaving a front office after a disappointing 23-49 record last year (.319 winning percentage), however the news seems to have upset Timberwolves star big man Karl Anthony-Towns.
Towns left a short response after learning the news:
"WTF," Towns tweeted.
This goes to show that the Minnesota Timberwolves aren't letting their current stars make decisions. It's also possible that when 76ers guard Ben Simmons became available, the team's president wasn't making enough noise in trade negotiations. And although it's fair for Towns to voice his opinions as all of us like to do, the fact that he did so publicly implies he offered these same takes privately -- but they were all ignored.
According to Shams Charania, the T-Wolves already have their eyes on 76ers GM Elton Brand as a replacement. Maybe Elton Brand likes Ben Simmons and would be interested in pursuing a trade that Gerrson Rosas wasn't?
It'll likely take weeks for all these details to spill, but one thing is for certain: The Minnesota Timberwolves suck wind and need a drastic on-court change. Apparently owners Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore see a front office fit that can accelerate that process.
As of now, the Timberwolves have an unhappy star on their hands.
