Longtime NBA Announcer Marv Albert Calls His Last Game

Saturday night was bittersweet for 80-year-old NBA broadcaster Marv Albert, who called his final basketball game with TNT.

The event did not go unnoticed, as broadcast partner Reggie Miller paid tribute to Albert with kind words of admiration.

"You gifted the game of basketball with your voice," Miller said.

Albert wrapped up the broadcast by speaking over a photo montage of his successful 55-year broadcasting career.

The NBA also paid tribute to Albert, and their Twitter account posted its own 5 1/2-minute video tribute.

The tribute includes memorable calls like "Here comes Willis" and "A spec-TACULAR move by Michael Jordan."

Albert had a long and storied career that included calling the NBA and numerous NFL matchups. He was also the radio voice of the NHL's New York Rangers from 1965 all the way until after the 1994–95 season. Albert even did his share of boxing and some MLB work, including a pair of World Series in 1986 and 1988.

However, the longtime announcer will probably always be known simply as "the voice of basketball."
