Kyrie Irving Exits Game 4 With Serious Ankle Injury After Landing On Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Brooklyn Nets are now missing two of their Big 3 after Kyrie Irving exited Game Four of the Eastern Semis with a right ankle injury.
The Nets point guard exited in the second quarter after going for a layup and landing on Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo, seriously tweaking his right ankle. Irving left the contest with 11 points and five rebounds.
Unable to put much weight on the ankle, Irving was helped to the locker room and is surely out for the remainder of the game, barring a Karate Kid-like treatment.
Averaging 23 PPG in the Eastern Conference series between the Bucks and Nets, Kyrie has helped pick up the load left by All-Star James Harden, who exited the series in the first minute of play after suffering a hamstring injury. Having previously missed time for both shoulder and knee injuries, Irving's ankle injury could put him on a 2-3 week timetable to fully heal up before a potential appearance in the NBA Finals.
James Harden has been progressing toward a return from his hamstring injury, though there's been no indication that the All-Star guard will return this series. The injury to Irving is sure to accelerate his return, now that Kevin Durant, Landry Shamet, Blake Griffin, and Jeff Green are left to elevate the Nets past the No. 3 seed Bucks.
***UPDATE***
Kyrie Irving has been declared OUT for the remainder of the game with a right ankle sprain.
