Kevin Durant's Opening Night Jersey From December 2020 Up For Auction; Could Raise Close To $46,000

The sports memorabilia market continues to thrive while other markets struggle, and one investment that seems to be paying off for customers is signed and game-worn merchandise.

And the amount paid for merchandise from Brooklyn Nets big man Kevin Durant has skyrocketed lately. So if you've got a couple thousand just lying around, you can likely be a part of the bids to try and get the jersey he wore in his first ever game with Brooklyn back on December 22nd, 2020, just before Santa arrived.

The night of Durant's first game, he scored 22 points, helping the Nets defeat his old team, the Golden State Warriors. Reports say that his is the first game-worn jersey from a current season to be offered by any of the three major fractional shares marketplaces.

Sports Collectors Daily reports that Durant's opening night jersey is on the auction block for $10 a ticket, meaning that you can score this piece of history for cheap.

NBA Auctions/MeiGray is the league’s primary platform for game-worn jersey sales.

Getting the jersey wasn't cheap, as it was purchased at NBA Auctions back on March 4th for close to $46,000. As of Monday afternoon, the company sold quite a few of the 4,760 shares currently offered. There are still 2,697 shares available for potential customers.

The black Nets jersey, a Size 50+4 inches extra length, is registered into the NBA and MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program. “12/22 vs. GSW” is handwritten on the jersey’s laundry tag.
