Former Coach Bob Knight Approves Of Indiana's Hiring Of Mike Woodson

Bob Knight may be 80 years old and very much removed from the Indiana basketball program at this point in his life, but when he talks and gives an opinion on something at the university, people still perk up.

Knight released a statement via Twitter regarding Indiana's decision to hire Mike Woodson to be the program's new head basketball coach.

The legendary head coach is happy with the hire, hoping that it will finally turn the program around and restore it to the levels it reached when Knight was the head coach.

"He (Woodson) will be an outstanding disciplinarian and teacher working with his team," Knight said via Twitter.

Woodson knows all too well about Indiana and its legacy in men's basketball. He was a second-team All-American at Indiana and helped the Hoosiers win the Big Ten title in 1980.

The 63-year-old right now ranks fifth on the school's all-time scoring list with 2,061 points during his tenure as a player.

Woodson has never coached at the college level, but many feel that reuniting with Indiana is a great fit and that with the proper support (getting Knight in your corner doesn't hurt), he will make the Hoosiers a force in men's college hoops once again.
