Bulls Forward Nikola Vucevic Unimpressed By His Own Historic Stat Line

Nikola Vucevic had a historical Monday night, according to the numbers, but he didn't seem to give a rat's you know what when asked about it.

"It's nice to hear," Vucevic said via Zoom from Atlanta. "But when it comes to those stats, I feel like you can make up a stat with anything nowadays."

That was the four-time All-Star's reaction to becoming the first player ever to post a stat line of 24 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, four blocks and four 3-pointers in the same game.

"I feel like stats in general should be like five,10, 15, 20, 25 games. S it's consistent," he continued. "Obviously, it's hard to find the same exact stat as I had. 24 is random. 17 is random. It's nice. Obviously, I'm glad I played well and I was able to have a good all-around game to help us win. But as far as that, it's nice but I don't necessarily care to be the only player to do it."

Considering the fact that I predicted the Chicago Bulls to be eastern conference contenders this season, I've been paying a close eye on Vucevic the past few games. Over his past four games, he's averaging 19.3 points, 12.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.3 blocks per game shooting 44 percent from deep and 50 percent overall. Those are wildly efficient numbers, especially for a big man that's protecting the rim.

And to address Vucevic being uncomfortable discussing his own historical numbers, you're probably asking the wrong guy. Regurgitate a jaw-dropping point total to Jordan or LeBron and I bet you get a much different response. Star athletes, which Nikola Vucevic clearly isn't despite his All-Star game appearances, would be much more likely to discuss how impressive they are. We'll chalk this one up to this Belgian big man caring far more about winning than posting cool digits on a scoreboard.

He's made $131 million so far in his career outside the limelight, so this mentality is probably for the best. Oh, and here's proof I told you guys the Bulls would be killer this year. I don't miss.
