A-Rod Doesn't Even Own The Timberwolves Yet But Already Wants To Move The Team
Alex Rodriguez already wants to move the Timberwolves to Seattle, and he doesn't even own the team yet. According to the fine print of the recently-signed deal, the $1.5 billion sale doesn't requiring the team to stay in Minnesota.
Now we have a lawsuit:
Meyer Orbach, the second largest shareholder of the Timberwolves, filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court alleging that majority owner, Glen Taylor and future owner Alex Rodriguez were violating the franchise's partnership agreement.
He's really just upset that Rodriguez is buying an NBA team with clear aspirations to move it back to Seattle, but whatever. You don't like it? Be a better team or don't sell.
What's clear is that even a figure as universally misunderstood as A-Rod can make smart business decisions. Returning an NBA franchise to Seattle will almost certainly work, no matter what the basketball product is.
Regardless of how you feel about Alex Rodriguez, moving the Minnesota Timberwolves -- who stink, by the way -- is smart business. We'll keep our fingers crossed.
