Kevin Harvick To Run ‘Grave Digger’ Paint Scheme At Nashville

Kevin Harvick received an early Father’s Day present from son Keelan, which doubles as a gift to fans of the Monster Truck circuit. Keelan was eager to surprise his dad with a ‘Grave Digger’ paint scheme for his number 4 Ford. The Grave Digger theme is an ode to arguably the world’s most famous monster truck.

The fresh paint will be on display this weekend when Harvick, who drives for Stewart-Haas Racing, competes in the Ally 400. The race serves as the NASCAR Cup Series’ debut at Nashville Superspeedway. Harvick’s Mustang will provide Nashville motorsports fans a glimpse into what next month’s Monster Jam (July 17th and 18th) field will look like at nearby Bridgestone Arena. Monster Jam is a touring competition and display of some of the most famous monster trucks in the world, including Grave Digger. Harvick and Keelan have attended past Monster Jam events.

Currently sitting at ninth place in the Cup Series standings, Harvick discussed his excitement over the paint scheme: “It’s the monster truck,” Harvick said in a team press release per nascar.com.

“Loud noises, big engines, big wheels, big tires, fast race cars, and to have that be a surprise, it’s surprising to me because of the fact that it’s with Grave Digger and everything, the history, that goes with that truck. But it doesn’t surprise me that it’s something related to a car and tying it in to what we do. This one caught me off guard, though, because I had no idea that any of this was happening and, to have my 8-year-old son be able to pull that off and know more about it than I do makes me feel like I’m a little bit left out. So we’re going to have to talk to somebody.”

The Grave Digger paint scheme has a chance to live eternally in NASCAR lore, should Harvick cap his Father’s Day weekend with a victory in the inaugural Ally 400.
