MMA Veteran On Trans Fighter: 'That's A Dude'

Last weekend MMA fighter Alana McLaughlin, who is transgender, won her first official MMA bout via a second-round submission. The win left one current UFC star less than impressed. Apparently, he isn't accepting of McLaughlin's decision to compete against women in mixed martial arts. “I don’t think that’s OK,” said rising UFC star Sean O'Malley, before comparing her to a male.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, O'Malley, who goes by the ring name "Suga," sounded off on McLaughlin's debut win as a transgender: “I don’t think that’s OK. I just don’t think that’s OK... In just competing in sports, I mean, especially mixed. It’s like she had testosterone for, who knows, 20 to 30 years of her life and now I’m a girl.”

McClaughlin, 38, previously served in the U.S. Army Special Forces for seven years. She underwent male-female gender reassignment surgery a little more than five years ago. Her muscular frame jumps off the screen, especially when compared to other female fighters.

“You could tell that’s a dude,” said Suga O’Malley. “A jacked girl. I mean, look at those arms.”

Don't expect Suga to see those pumped up pipes up close anytime soon. The 26-year-old seems to be eyeing a fight with highly thought of prospect Paddy Pimblett.

“I’m clearly one of the biggest draws. I’m the cash cow and he knows that, so why not? He’s got to use my name, he’s got to say my name. It makes sense. Like I said, people want to see characters. He understands that. He’s going to be a character, he’s going to say what he needs to say,” O’Malley told MMAfighting.com. “He went out and performed the way he needed to, aside from almost getting knocked out. I think that could be a potential big fight. I don’t know, we’ll see."

Make no mistake. Should Suga and Paddy ever meet in the Octagon, that'll be two dudes squaring up.
