Dustin Poirier Signs For Third Fight With Conor McGregor

Dustin Poirier has officially signed his contract to fight Conor McGregor at UFC 264 on July 10, ESPN reports.

After a January loss to Poirier, McGregor made it clear he wanted to run it back now that the overall record between the two was 1-1. ESPN reports McGregor agreed to the fight weeks ago.

"The trilogy, which is expected to be one of the most lucrative in UFC history, is slated to serve as a five-round main event at 155 pounds, just like the rematch was. The original fight took place at 145 pounds," the article states.

Poirier (27-6, 1 NC) will look to extend his winning streak to three in a row as McGregor (22-5) hopes to secure his first win since January 2020.

In 2014, McGregor and Poirier met for the first time as featherweights in UFC 178, where McGregor won by knockout in 106 seconds during his early-career success. Within 15 months, McGregor became the featherweight champion.

The duo met in a rematch in January of this year, where Poirier won with a second-round TKO at UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi.

"The winner of this fight could very well be next in line for a lightweight title shot, though that stipulation hasn't been announced," the ESPN article reads.

The location for the event hasn't been announced, but it is expected to be open to fans, ESPN reports.
