Conor McGregor Has An Insane Diet Leading Up To His UFC 257 Fight
As UFC 257 approaches, it's hard to deny the shape that superstar Conor McGregor is in. He's been piling on the muscle for his upcoming matchup with Dustin Poirier on Saturday.
The outspoken MMA star says he's ready to put on a show in Abu Dhabi, and has been eating well to get in shape to take on Poirier.
McGregor says he's in his "best shape ever," all thanks to a diet from his nutritionist.
Nutritionist Tristin Kennedy spoke to ESPN about the diet, one that "consists of lean sources of protein: chicken, fish, salmon, beef, eggs."
Kennedy said that McGregor's diet helps him lose weight and then get rid of excess water for the Saturday matchup.
For McGregor to get back to the lightweight division, which has a 156-pound limit, he had to go lean and cut out many carbs.
Here's a breakdown of the diet that Kennedy put together for the Irish star.
Breakfast - Oats with eggs and sautéed green leafy vegetables
Morning snack - Fruit and herb salad with organic honey
Lunch - Chicken Breast with rice and asparagus
Midday Snack - McGregor Fast Vanilla whey protein shake with nut butter
Dinner - Irish lamb stew with potatoes
Evening Snack - Homemade McGregor Fast Chocolate Whey protein balls and organic tea
"Good complex carbohydrates. Good micro elements -- your herbs, basil, oregano. All these things are incorporated into the diet as a whole," Kennedy said.
"We have a great balanced diet. From multiple protein sources, multiple carbohydrate sources of wholesome foods. And that's the key."
We will see if the diet that the MMA star is on pays off as he and Poirier get set to do battle Saturday, January 23rd.
