Yankees' Jordan Montgomery Dominating Spring Training
Earlier this morning, Yankees' left-hander Jordan Montgomery was lights out (again), and he's looking scary headed into the 2021 campaign. New York didn't exactly break the bank this off-season, but it's possible that this home grown southpaw might save the day.
We would like to show you coverage of the game-- but instead we're forced to watch Montgomery's no-hit performance from 100 yards away on a cell phone. Major League Baseball blackouts and TV regulations in general did Yankees fans no justice today.
I have been critical of the Yankees' lack of young development recently, but if Monty comes through like he has so far, then I'll just shut up. Jordan Montgomery looks like the real deal so far. He also looks bored out his mind, which probably helps him pitching under the bright lights of NYC. At least he won't smile off the mound if he ever gets lit, like Sonny Gray did a few years back.
Also, just 66 pitches through five innings, huh? It's not often a pitcher throws well enough to go the distance in mid-March.
Montgomery is certainly a player to keep an eye on as we head into the 2021 marathon. He just might be the difference-maker.
