Will The Marlins Move Starling Marte Before The MLB Trade Deadline?

The Major League Baseball trading deadline is closing in, and teams are starting to determine whether they will be buyers or sellers.

One such team is the Miami Marlins, who at 40-53 are 9.5 back in the NL East and going nowhere fast, meaning they are the perfect team to be a seller at the deadline.

One player who could be available come the end of the month deadline is Marlins outfielder Starling Marte, who is hitting .285 with seven homers and 22 runs batted in.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that a number of teams are interested in Marte, including the Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros, and New York Yankees.

The Marlins had been looking to get Marte to ink a long term deal, but talks never got close to happening and have ended for now.

Marte is set to hit free agency after this season, meaning if the Marlins are not going to get him inked long term, it's probably in their best interest to move him and get as many players as they can in return.

The Phillies, Astros and Yankees all have players they can offer up for Marte. The question is - will Miami budge, or will Marte remain with the club until free agency this next offseason.
