Watch: Mets Infielder Luis Guillorme Just Walked On 22 Pitches
New York Mets infielder Luis Guillorme stepped up to the plate today against St. Louis Cardinals flame-thrower Jordan Hicks and proceeded to draw a walk on 22 pitches.
Here's the entire at-bat:
Not sure if we're impressed or what, because you'd think one of those 22 pitches would be put in play. Hicks has a 100+ mile-an-hour fastball that sinks harder than the Titanic, so Guillorme throwing together this type of at-bat is ridiculous. It should be impossible, but that's what makes baseball the beauty that it is.
Magic can happen at any given moment, and that's why baseball doesn't need to speed up. Moments like this illustrate why we need baseball to slow us down.
There's nothing more American than a 22-pitch grinder of an at-bat!
