Twins Set High Price For Jose Berrios

The Minnesota Twins are having an awful season. They sit at 40-54, 17 games behind the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central.

The Twins went all in at the beginning of this season, looking to win the AL Central and hopefully get to the World Series, but that's a pipe dream at this point.

Now the Twins have to make some tough decisions about certain players on the roster, one of whom is starting pitcher Jose Berrios.

Berrios is contracted only through the 2022 season, meaning it's not out of the question that the Twins trade the pitcher.

Reports say that the righty has already drawn interest from multiple teams.

The 27-year-old has pitched to a 3.48 ERA with a career-best 25.9 percent strikeout rate and a seven percent walk rate (the second-lowest of his career) through 108 2/3 innings.

He's gone 7-4 in 19 starts for the Twins this season, and has pitched well but at times just isn't getting the support from the offense.

The Twins would love to get Berrios under contract for a couple more seasons, but Berrios knows that he's 15 months from being a free agent and it sounds like he's going to simply wait it out.

“ waiting six years, almost seven, to get where every player wants to be — a free agent, able to maximize our value,” Berrios told Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune this weekend.

“So it’s different now. We are in a good position, and we’ll see what the best deal is going to be.”
