Trevor Story Getting Plenty Of Interest On MLB Trade Market

If there's one player who is getting a lot of interest in the MLB trade market with time ticking away before the deadline, it's Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story.

Reports say that Story, who has been a staple in Colorado the last six seasons, is garnering interest from at least six or eight other MLB teams that could use a shortstop who has some pop in his bat.

Entering play on Thursday, Story is hitting .243 with 11 homers and 43 runs batted in for the Rockies.

Story has dealt with elbow issues this season, which has forced him to miss time, but the good news is that there was no damage in the elbow that would keep him on the IL for an extended period.

Money-wise, Story is owed about $6.97 million of his $17.5 million dollar salary from Thursday through season’s end.

It's a lot of money for a team to add to their payroll, and whatever team makes a deal for Story is going to have to give up at least a couple of prospects as well.

In the shortened 2020 MLB season, Story hit just 11 homers, but two years ago he was one of the biggest sluggers in the National League, hitting .294 with 35 homers and 85 runs batted in.

At 28 years old, Story still has plenty of gas left in tank and could help a team out for years to come.

Story is also set for free agency following the 2021 season, so whatever team deals for him should keep that in mind as he may be nothing more than a two-month rental.
