Smoking Hot Houston's One Win Away From World Series

For a second consecutive night, the Houston Astros put nine runs on the board to top the Red Sox, leaving them one win away from returning to the World Series for the first time since 2019. Though they crossed home plate just 13 times in the first three games of the series (two of which were won by Boston), Houston's bats have caught fire, and now they've scored 18 runs in the last two nights.

Leading the Game 5 Houston hit parade during Wednesday's 9-2 win was DH Yordan Alvarez, who contributed three hits, three RBIs and the Astros' only home run: a second-inning dinger off of Boston ace Chris Sale.

"The only thing that surprises me about Yordan is the amount of talent that guy has. To hit a ball out like that against one of the best lefties in the game in Sale, tells you how much talent," said Houston's  Yuli Gurriel via an interpreter.

"I can’t remember seeing anybody do it with that kind of strength."
