Scott Boras Compares Kris Bryant To Sean Connery When Asked About His Free Agency

MLB utility man Kris Bryant is expected to command a contract north of $150 million this offseason and has plenty potential buyers. He's represented by super agent Scott Boras, who has shown over the years that he'll say just about anything to sell teams on his clients.

This time, Boras compared Kris Bryant to Sean Connery. Seriously.

"He's kind of the Sean Connery of baseball," Boras said. "He has positional versatility, which makes him untouchable. He has Bond-like abilities to create a giant middle of the lineup. He's always red hot in the hunt for October. He's an extraordinary gentleman and in a league of his own."

It's probably best that we break this statement down into categories. For one, Sean Connery was voted "Sexiest Man of the 20th Century," and women purchased Kris Bryant's jersey more than any other player the past decade. Both of these dudes could get just about any girl they wanted, or at least Connery could until a year ago when he died (RIP.) We'll call this one a draw or a slight edge to Connery, being honest. It's Sean freakin' Connery we're talking about here.

Secondly, and probably most importantly, Boras brings up Bryant's Connery-like versatility. Sure, it's quite the stretch to compare Bryant's ability to play well in center field or at third base to Sean Connery being able to play James Bond or Marko Ramius in The Hunt For Red October, but I can see where he was trying to go with this.

Scott Boras is attempting to get every team involved in the Kris Bryant sweepstakes by broadening where he can fit in the field to drive up his asking price. The more bidders he has, the better Boras and his client will fare this winter as they scan the market for a monster contract.

The four-time All-Star slugged 167 homers slashing .278/376/.504 over the span of his seven-year career, proving there are some things that Sean Connery couldn't do after all.
