Rockies GM Jeff Bridich Has Resigned, Greg Feasel Named Club President

Rockies GM Jeff Bridich has resigned, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. This news comes out of absolutely nowhere, which should tell the baseball world what's ahead for the laughingstock of the division.

All we have now is speculation, and there could really be a few things at work here:

That last scenario is probably most likely because he would be right. The Dodgers were better than every other team in baseball last year, and they still added 2020 CY Young winner Trevor Bauer via free agency. No Rockies GM will ever have the authority to spend that way, so they'll need a slew of prospects to build a team from the ground up.

And unfortunately for Bridich, the Rockies don't have a farm system to be proud of. They currently rank 27th out of 30 MLB teams, according to Baseball America. Might as well get out before he's sent packing, and there's surely a better job out there than general manager of a Rockies team that ain't getting any better.

Last point

Something should be said for not wanting to be the guy who traded Nolan Arenado AND Trevor Story. There's always that.
