Rizzo And Freeman Share A 'Slow' Moment Late In Atlanta Blowout

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo and Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman are getting a lot of press today, as the pair had one of the funniest moment in all of Major League Baseball in 2021.

The incident took place on Wednesday night when the Cubs and Braves took the field and Atlanta built up a 10-0 lead. Though traditionally a first baseman, Rizzo then took over on the mound to face Freeman.

If you can believe it, Rizzo struck out Freddie Freeman on a 61.4 mph curveball. It's the slowest pitch Freeman has struck out on in his MLB career and the 2nd-slowest strikeout in all of MLB this season. The only one slower was a 54-mph strikeout by Hernán Pérez on April 13

The two position players shared chuckles for a few minutes while fans soaked it all in. The two players made everyone feel like had just witnessed a fun moment that they won't soon forget.

This wasn't Rizzo's professional pitching debut either. He made his first appearance on the mound in July 2018 and retired the only batter he faced.
