Nick Castellanos Can't Stop Hitting Homers During Serious Moments

Reds outfielder Nick Castellanos likely won't be enshrined into the Baseball Hall of Fame, but he's already earned a spot in the Hall of Awkward. For the second time in as many seasons, Castellanos went yard at the worst possible time - at least for the game's broadcaster. Monday night, Castellanos homered in the top half of the seventh inning as the television team was in the middle of eulogizing a fallen soldier.

"There's never a great time to ... eulogize someone during a broadcast," said the broadcaster. He couldn't be more right, especially when Castellano's at the plate.

Fittingly, the home run was Castellanos' only hit of the night in a 6-2 Reds win over the hosting Royals. This wasn't the first time he's hit an awkwardly-timed dinger in Kansas City, just the most recent. Last August, in the same ballpark, Castellanos hit a solo bomb to left as Reds broadcaster Thom Brennaman was in the middle of issuing an apology for using an anti-gay slur.

Cincinnati has two games remaining in a three-game series with Kansas City, playing tonight and again on Wednesday afternoon. If the broadcast team has any serious news to pass along, they'd be wise to hold off until Castellanos steps away from the plate.
