Mets SS Lindor Wants Team To Ink New Deal With OF Michael Conforto

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor is locked into a 10-year deal worth $341 million, and he reportedly wants to have some of his new buddies stick around with him as long as he's in the Big Apple. Reports say that Lindor is recruiting one-time All-Star outfielder and free-agent-to-be Michael Conforto to reup with the Mets, keeping him as part of the team's young roster. The seventh year outfielder is hitting just .143 this season, with no homers and three runs batted in. "I'm looking forward to the day he, God willing, does sign here and I can say he's going to be a teammate of mine for a very long time," Lindor told reporters about Conforto. Last season in 54 games, Conforto hit .322 with nine homers and 31 runs batted in. He is a lifetime .258 hitter with 118 homers and 344 RBI in seven seasons in the league. The Mets are off to a 4-3 start in 2021. With the ability to ink Lindor and the willingness of Mets new owner Steve Cohen to spend money, there's no doubt that the team can afford Conforto if they want to bring him back. Part of the question will be what type of deal Conforto could demand and whether he wants to stay with his new pal Lindor and the Mets moving forward.
