Mets Land Blockbuster Deal To Bring Sonny Gray, Eugenio Suarez To Queens

Even after Mets GM Jared Porter sent 62 texts, including a still frame of his...ummm...one-eyed dragon, to a female reporter, the team is still making calls to land big time players. According to reports, the Reds and Mets have discussed a blockbuster deal that would land Eugenio Suarez and Sonny Gray in Queens.

It turns out, Steve Cohen wasn't kidding when he said he wanted to win.

There's no telling how far these talks will go, but the report at least shows the intentions of new Mets owner Steve Cohen. The guy doesn't seem to care that we're in a pandemic, does he?

Eugenio Suarez fits in any lineup looking to add some thump, as he's launched 64 homers since 2019.

Sonny Gray, on the other hand, hasn't exactly proven he can handle the New York media. Gray's time with the New York Yankees is mainly a stain on his career. He once smirked as he walked off the mound after getting lit up at Yankee Stadium, and those in the NY news business didn't take too kindly to the gesture. To be fair to him, the Mets aren't exactly covered with as much venom as the Yankees, so maybe a little less attention will help?

Mets are turning the corner

What's different about Steve Cohen is that he isn't bringing on one player at a time to deal with New York. He's clearly looking to overhaul this roster and give them a real chance to compete for a World Series title.

The last time Mets fans got this excited, their general manager forgot his pants. Still, trading for Sonny Gray and Eugenio Suarez is an objectively exciting move for a team looking to contend. Good for the Mets.
