Max Scherzer Throws His Third Career Immaculate Inning

Max Scherzer just threw his third career immaculate inning against the division rival Padres. Impressive, but to illustrate just how rare a 9-pitch three punch-out inning is: there's been more perfect games in baseball history than immaculate innings.

This is rarified air.

A league working to speed up pace of play and there's no bigger friend to pace than filling the strikezone nine-consecutive tries to go along with zero contact. Incredible work out of Max Scherzer, who we'd all rather see in any other uniform other than Dodger blue.

And by the way, the only other two pitchers to have three immaculate innings: Chris Sale and Sandy Koufax. They were pretty good.
