Lucas Giolito And Jack Flaherty Attending Game 6 Of World Series To Support Former Teammate Max Fried
Braves ace Max Fried will take the hill in Game 6 of the World Series against the Astros on Tuesday night, looking to lift Atlanta to its first World Series title since 1995.
He'll do so with two close friends in attendance, per ESPN's Alden Gonzalez: the White Sox's Lucas Giolito and the Cardinals' Jack Flaherty. The trio might be aces of three separate teams, but once upon the time, they headlined the rotation of Harvard-Westlake High School in Los Angeles.
Together, the three carried the 2011-2012 Wolverines to a 24-5-1 record. The following year, Flaherty, now the lone man on the staff, guided the team to a No. 1 team ranking in the state of California. All three went on to become first-round picks in the MLB Draft, now all regarded as three of the best pitchers in baseball.
While both Giolito and Flaherty wish it was them standing on the rubber at Minute Maid Park, they'll instead enjoy watching their former teammate do just that.
"I'm definitely a little jealous," Giolito said. "But at the same time, I'm super pumped."
