Joey Votto Disappointed His Biggest Fan With Ejection, Then TOTALLY Made Up For It
Reds' first baseman Joey Votto didn't spend much time on the diamond Saturday afternoon. The Cincinnati veteran was ejected in the top of the first inning against San Diego after arguing balls and strikes. And he didn't exactly go quietly...
Votto's quick and energetic exit left his biggest fan in tears while attending her first MLB game decked out in a fresh Votto tee.
The message made it's way back to Votto, who's spent his entire career in Cincy, and he did his best to turn the young fan's frown upside down, sending an autographed ball her way.
Votto's ejection was the 13th of his career and first this season. The 37-year old is having a down year offensively, batting .236 with eight homers and 29 RBI. Saturday marks the third straight game between the Reds and Padres with San Diego having won the previous two. The four-game series between the teams, who are each sitting in third place in their respective divisions, wraps up tomorrow afternoon.
