Houston Astros Interested In Adding Veteran Reliever Liam Hendricks To Their Pen

Veteran relief pitcher Liam Hendricks has become a hot name in free agency recently. Teams that want to add a big arm to their pen now have a player who has been excellent in getting a few batters out the past two seasons.

Add the Houston Astros to that list. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Hendricks has become a target for the Astros' pen in 2021 and beyond.

Houston had their eyes on reliever Blake Treinen, but he's no longer available after he re-signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday.

Hendricks has had an amazing two-year run for Oakland, putting up a 1.79 ERA with 39 saves and 161 strikeouts over 110.1 innings in the last two seasons.

The Astros are looking to add to their pen after finishing 10th overall last season, and the 31-year-old could just be a perfect fit.

Hendricks has been in the league now for 10 seasons, playing five of them with Oakland. He also spent time with Kansas City, Toronto and Minnesota.

A number of other teams reportedly have interest in Hendricks, including the Jays, White Sox, Phillies, Giants and Dodgers, so the Astros are going to have to work to acquire his services.
