George Springer Signing Massive Deal With Blue Jays

George Springer's time as a Houston Astro is coming to an end. According to a tweet from MLB insider Jeff Passan with ESPN, the outfielder is inking a massive 6-year, $150 million deal with the Toronto Blue Jays.

There is still a looming physical that Springer needs to pass, but it otherwise should be a done deal. As Passan points out, this is a big move for the Blue Jays -- and it was needed.

Springer has been one of the major driving forces behind Houston's offensive success over the last four seasons. His 19 postseason home runs sits at fourth all-time, but that only scratches the surface for his importance.

At just 31 years old, Springer still has plenty left in the tank. Good on Toronto for forking over the cash, and good on Springer for landing a much-deserved contract after passing on a one-year, $18.9 million qualifying offer from Houston.
