Ex-Yankee David Wells Boycotts MLB Over ASG Debacle

Former Yankees pitcher David Wells made a name for himself in baseball. But now he's done with the MLB, he says, citing the league's decision to pull the All-Star Game out of Atlanta.

“I’ve had a lot of dealings with (MLB commissioner) Rob Manfred back in my playing days, and I never liked the guy,” Wells said on Fox News Radio’s “The Brian Kilmeade Show". "To me, how do you change the games, the dynamics, and hurt a city like Atlanta that really needs some income in that situation? I mean, Atlanta’s a great place to play baseball.”

Wells, 57, was a three-time All-Star himself (1995, 1998, 2000). But he said he no longer watches baseball. The reason? You guessed it. Because baseball is moving its All-Star Game as sort of a protest for Georgia tightening restrictions on absentee voting.

“I don’t watch baseball anymore, Brian,” Wells said. “I refuse to watch it because of this. I don’t want no part of it, and this was my life. … For me not to want to go to a baseball game or even watch, it kills me because I don’t put up with that kind of crap, and I don’t condone it.”
