Dodgers Fans Put 'Thanks For Mookie' Billboard Outside Fenway Park
Dodgers traveling fanbase "Pantone 294" paid for a billboard outside of Fenway Park to thank the Red Sox for Mookie Betts. Mookie was traded to LA last off-season for what was described as a "salary dump," but which then led to a Dodgers World Series championship.
A 'thank you' is probably the least Dodgers fans could do. This one stings though.
Boston gave up the best right fielder in baseball and that move made the Dodgers the best team in the game. The worst part of all though is that Boston stunk up the AL East last year, finishing dead last at 24-36. They were plagued by brutal pitching, dismal offensive performances, and most importantly, no Mookie Betts to entice fans to turn on the local "NESN" for a Red Sox ballgame.
Oh well. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Red Sox management gave Mookie up to save money, which makes him a modern-day Babe Ruth of sorts. It's certainly not everyday that a first ballot Hall of Famer gets traded away from one major market to another.
