Corey Kluber Headed To Rays On 1-Year Deal

Right-hander Corey Kluber has agreed to a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Rays.

The free-agent entered in agreement with Rays, pending a physical, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reports.

The 35-year-old missed more than three months with a right shoulder strain before rejoining New York Yankees in late August and finished with 3.83 ERA in 80 IP, including a no-hitter.

MLB.com reports that if finalized, Kluber will join the Rays for $8 million with the potential to earn up to $13 million through incentives in his contract.

The three-time All-Star and two-time American League Cy Young Award winner was pursued by the Rays last offseason after cutting ties with experienced starters Charlie Morton and Blake Snell.

Kluber ultimately signed with the Yankees for $11 million, MLB.com reports. The right-hander played made his MLB debut in 2011 as a member of the Cleveland Indians and has since played for the Texas Rangers and Yankees.
