Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Says Limited number of Cubs, White Sox Fans Will Be Allowed In Stands Opening Day

The two Major League Baseball teams in Chicago are set to hear a roar, albeit a light roar, from the crowd on Opening Day, as some fans will be allowed to attend the opener at Guaranteed Rate Field and Wrigley Field.

“The return of fans is incredibly meaningful to our players, our city and the game we all love,” Cubs executive chairman Tom Ricketts said in a statement.

“Nothing can replace the energy and enthusiasm our beloved fans bring to the Friendly Confines each and every game. We’re ready and excited for our much-anticipated Wrigley Field reunion.”

Right now, indoor spectator sports are not permitted at this time under the state’s reopening plan.
