Brewers 1B Vogelbach Hops His Way Home In Win Over Arizona

Confusion or just good sportsmanship?

That's something that can be debated today after a curious play in Tuesday night's game between the Milwaukee Brewers and Arizona Diamondbacks.

In the 6th inning, Brewers first baseman Daniel Vogelbach reached base on an error. Two batters later, with two outs, Avisaíl García walked, putting Vogelbach on second base. Omar Narváez then singled to center field.

Vogelbach was running with the pitch, and it appeared he was going to score with ease, but then the first baseman appeared to come up limp and he raced towards home on one leg.

The Diamondbacks could have easily thrown Vogel Bach out, but they may have been too confused to do so.

Limping around third, Vogelbach didn't draw a throw and scored on the play.

"Weird stuff happens all the time in this game," D-backs shortstop Nick Ahmed said.

"And I've played it long enough to know now there's something new you're going to see maybe every day. And you try to be ready for everything and prepare the best you can, and that's what I do each and every day.

"But I've never once taken a cut and relay and practiced for the guy pulling his hammy and being 30 feet outside the baseline. It's just never happened. So I'm just going to laugh about it. There's nothing I could have done differently."
